Been there and got the t-shirt at Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre
A huge thank you to Lorraine and Emer at Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre (RICC) for showing me around your beautiful and inspiring community centre.
I’m a firm believer in learning from others and sharing ideas between communities so that we all benefit. I am delighted to have met Lorraine at a biodiversity event held by the Lord Mayor and really appreciate her invite to see what has been achieved at RICC.
Emer showed me about the recently created sensory garden, allotment space, potting shed, raised beds and so much more. The bird boxes made and decorated by the children’s afterschool club were a delight.
It is wonderful to see what can be achieved for the benefit of nature and the community. Lorraine, Emer and I had great chats learning from each other and gave me loads of pointers on how to progress on our community garden and inclusion project. Lorraine very kindly gave me a gift of an RICC t-shirt so I can truly say “been there, got the t-shirt”.
I am delighted to say I will returning to RICC in April, bringing the ‘loom on tour’ to the children’s afterschool club to show the children about textiles and weaving. The current loom project is a rainbow scarf which three different community and school groups from ages 3 to 83 have taken part in weaving, it is my pleasure to share this with RICC. Here’s to community collaborations.
