Terenure Youth Group opening our doors on Friday November 10th
I’m delighted to announce that Terenure Community Support & Integration has partnered with Foróige to develop a youth group in Terenure. Foroige’s aim is empowering youth and enriching communities which was a logical fit for Terenure COmmunity Support & Integration which promotes social inclusion activities. We have seven volunteers involved in the Terenure Youth Group and more are always welcome. Foroige have facilitated garda vetting, reference checks, child protection awareness training and running a youth group induction training. We also have a network of other Foróige clubs and volunteers to engage with and learn from.
Terenure Youth Group volunteers final planning meeting before we open the doors to young people will be at the end of October. We plan to open the club to youth members on November 10th 7-8.30pm. We will be welcome all young people to come along to give a try for free on November 10th.
The Terenure Youth Club will be located at the Evergreen Club, 70 Terenure Road North, D6W H568.
The Youth Members will be active participants in how the club develops, including deciding the rules of the club, what activities, events our outings they want to do or even if they would like to change the name of the club. There will always be adult supervision of the youth group to make sure that everyone is safe, respected and encouraged to be themselves.
We are providing a safe, supervised space for young people to meet and be involved in various activities that interest them. Activities could be science focused, environmental, STEM, arts and crafts, film, books etc. the club is theirs for the shaping.
There is annual registration fee for youth members to join foróige which covers our public liability insurance and enables access to continued free training for volunteers as well as youth groups to access Foróige-wide fun activities and events. The annual charge is €30 due on joining and would not be payable again until September 2024.
In addition to annual membership fee to Foróige, there will be a small monthly fee for participation in the club for club specific activities, this will be in the region of €10. This fee goes towards rental of the hall, food and drink for participants as well as club activities and materials required for activities in STEM, arts & crafts, sign language, first-aid etc. All volunteers are giving their time freely and we have applied for community grant funding to support enriching youth group activities. If you know anyone who would like to contribute to the running of the club please do get in touch.
