Launch - Terenure Biodiversity Mapping Project

Hi All Nature Enthusiasts, I’m delighted to announce that with the expert guidance of Eanna Ní Lamhna we will be mapping the biodiversity of Terenure.

We need your help to let us know about the wildlife, mammals, insects, butterflies, spiders, birds and water life you see in Terenure.

How to get involved?

All during May record the following and send your records to terenurecsi@gmail.com

  • what you have seen

  • where you have seen it (park name, street name)

  • when )date and time)

  • photograph of the wildlife spotted if possible

You can undertake this record of biodiversity in your garden, local park, dodder waterway, lakelands Terenure College. Wherever you like within Terenure we want to hear from you.

You can make as many records as you like and don’t worry if you don’t know what uyou have spotted, if you manage to get a picture do send it on to us at terenurecsi@gmail.com and our expert will help us out.

We will set up a section on this website for all the recorded wildlife submissions so you can follow the progress.

The only criteria is that the wildlife must be recorded within the boundary map of Terenure. Anyone living outside the boundary is of course most welcome to take part by visiting one of Terenure’s public parks and taking records there.

I do hope you will join us in this fantastic citizen science project.

The outcomes of all our recordings will give us a baseline of known biodiversity which will influence future plans on how to protect, nurture or enhance biodiversity within Terenure.

We will also have some walk and talks in the Summer to map trees and plants but for the moment we are primarily focused on the wildlife as outlined above. We look forward to hearing from you.
