Great News - Terenure Rewilding Project gets approval from DCC

Hi Everyone who has enjoyed the Terenure Growers’ journey so far. We’ve had two fun nature walks, a successful Terenure sown and grown plant giveaway, talks about composting and the Irish Independent coming along to see what we are up to too.

Members of the Terenure Growers Committee, the Association of Residents of Terenure, Tidy Towns Terenure as well as local councilors met with Dublin City Council (DCC) Parks department a few weeks back now about rewilding a section of Eaton Square.

This project has had overwhelming support from local residents, in particular when we went door-to-door on Eaton Square as these residents will be the first to hopefully see the fruits of the Terenure Growers’ efforts. This project is also supported by the Association of Residents of Terenure who have been working with the parks department for a number of years to improve the Eaton Square green space.

Terenure Growers hopes to play its part in the All Ireland Pollinator and Biodiversity plans published by DCC and the Irish Government. In time as we sow and grow pollinator friendly plants in the space approved by DCC we hope to see an increase in pollinators such as bees, butterflies and many more.

DCC parks department very kindly provided a chestnut fence to mark the area for rewilding. We are delighted to say that this work commenced on 3rd July and we hope it will be completed by 4th July. This is a temporary fence to allow the rewilding project to establish itself.

All members of the community, all ages and gardening abilities, in particular those with no experience whatsoever are welcome to enjoy this space and to come along to events which will be scheduled shortly.

If you would like to join the Terenure Growers whatsapp group, our main method of communication in conjunction with this website, you can send us an email at terenurecsi@gmail.com and we’ll happily add you to the group so that you can be informed about educational nature and gardening activities happening around Dublin, Terenure growers’ events, how to manage alien species and garden pests as well as enjoying photography from local growers.

Thank you all for your continued support and engagement.
