Wreath Making Inclusion and Creating Event Nov 18th 2023

On Saturday November 18th 22 people came together at the Evergreen Club, Terenure to make a winter wreath. None of the attendees had made a wreath before. John, a kind friend of the Terenure Growers and who has done amazing envionrmental work in his own community in Ballymun came to help us learn how to make a wreath.

The Irish Red Cross sponsored the purchase of wreath formers (metal hoop shapes) and wire. The Terenure Grower volunteers alongside John foraged for all the plant material. Many residents in Terenure where very kind to offer all sorts of beautiful cuttings from their gardens and Terenure College donated a huge bag of holly.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, all the happy faces creating something to adorn their own front doors or to gift to a friend who has helped them on their journey here in Ireland. We had six attendees from our migrant support group, unfortunately bus delays arising from demonstrations in the city centre meant that some who wanted to come along could not make it. Fortunately there were no disruptions on Sunday for the Makers Market which was a wonderful display of inclusion, more about that in the next post….stay tuned.
